Black Bart Neighborhood of South Lake Tahoe

South Lake Tahoe Real Estate in the Black Bart neighborhood provides owners a unique country setting while nearby all city conveniences.  Homes for sale in this area are all single family dwellings with a tendency to have larger tree lined lots. 10 homes and 2 lots sold here in the last 12 months.  The homes sold for $80,000 up to $550,000. The lots went for $50,000 and $70,000. You can view all of the specific details on my unique chart, the first of its kind in the state. 5 of the homes sold were short sales and 1 was a foreclosure.

Many familiar with the history of the west know that Black Bart was one of the most unusual stagecoach robbers of his time. His first known robbery was of a WElls Fargo stagecoach in the Sierra foothills. He approached the stage and called out to his men to shoot if money was surrendered.  The driver gave him the cash box only to find out later that what had looked like guns pointing at the stage from the hills were actually propped up sticks (and there were no other men either). Black Bart (who’s real name was Charles Boles) was always very courteous during the 28 stagecoach robberies, never shooting his gun.

Lake Tahoe Real Estate sales in the last few years appeared to be a goldmine of great deals for the buyer, not a highway (or stagecoach) robbery.  While the market appears to be leveling out there are still a lot of great deals on homes for sale in the South Lake Tahoe area, including the Black Bart Neighborhood.

Currently there are 4 homes for sale here.  This lovely home on the left is on Hank MOnk Avenue (another history lesson there!).  The large lot provides RV or boat storage and the 4 bedrooms, 2 baths and 2 fireplaces make for a great home!

The Black Bart area is surrounded by two protected meadows, Trout Creek that meanders from the mountains down to the lake, great hiking and biking trails and is close to the community college.  Children would attend Sierra House Elementary which consistently ranks as one of the tops schools in the area.
