Buy a home in the Bijou Neighborhood of South Lake Tahoe

South Lake Tahoe Real Estate in the Bijou neighborhood is continuing to be a hot commodity with interest in all Tahoe homes for sale in this area staying steady or growing. From January 12, 2011 to January 12, 2012, there were 92 homes sold in Bijou.  This neighborhood is broken down into two areas – Bijou 1 and Bijou 2.   Bjou 1 is the larger of the two, encompassing the area surrounded by Lake Tahoe, Pioneer Trail, Wildwood Avenue, and Bijou Golf Course. Bijou 2 is the the area from Lake Tahoe to Bijou Golf Course over to Al Tahoe Blvd and Highway 50. You will find homes, condos, apartments and a quarter share for sale.  

The Bijou area is a great area to own a home in South Lake Tahoe for many reason.  Your home is centrally located in town which would give you access to shopping, public transportation, golfing, the beach and lake and other recreational activities.  City Parks are close by with all they have to offer along with the City’s Recreational Complex with a pool and ice arena with the adjacent library.  Many pockets of the Bijou area were some of the first homes to be built in South Lake Tahoe.

Bijou 1′s average selling price was $219,726 wfrom the average listing price of $231,989.  Homes were on the market for an average of 140 days.  There are 37 active listings here. Bijou 2′s average selling price was $301,162 with the average listing price of $322,032.  Homes were on the market for an average of 163 days. There are 16 active listings in Bijou 2.
