In 1851 this area served as a Pony Express station, stagecoach stop and trading post. The Celio family who once owned the town, the hotel, and lumber operations while ranching here still maintain a large ranch nearby. Every year, the Annual Wagon Train makes its way through South Lake Tahoe and camps out in Meyers at the area's largest ranch, the Amacker Ranch.
