Due to a lawsuit by a Zephyr Cove, Nevada resident, the annual 4th of July display of fireworks over Lake Tahoe may have been canceled. But, with a Monday meeting between the lawyers, the couple suing and the Lake Tahoe Visitor’s Authority, the suit was dropped and a settlement agreement was arranged.
Lake Tahoe Fireworks
A long time tradition, fireworks have been launched over Lake Tahoe for decades. The show used to be over the lake in the Bijou area but was moved over to the Nevada side near Edgewood Tahoe once the Lake Tahoe Visitor’s Authority (LTVA) took over the organization of the show 30 years ago.
What happens now?
The LTVA board voted to cancel the fireworks unless an agreement can be arrived at before April 4, and that was done with an agreement on March 31. The local chamber of commerce asked for input from the community during last week’s board meeting, and that they received. Petitions were signed, business owners and residents spoke, and a uniform support of the fireworks in South Lake Tahoe was formed.
This is great news and the South Lake Tahoe community is very happy!
