General Improvement District
Skyland also has a GID (General Improvement District) made up of elected homeowners and funded by ad valorem taxes collected by Douglas County. The GID's purpose is to govern paving, snow plowing, maintenance of curbs, gutters, sidewalks, storm runoff, and the fence along highway 50. They also oversee street lighting, water, and sewer improvements. A wonderful place to call home. - information compiled by Nancy Beaulieu.
