Major investments have been made in Lake Tahoe over the years to protect the lake and environment. While those project continue, private and public investments are now being made on both infrastructure, retail, housing and tourism.
Hard Rock Casino
Sixty million dollars is being spent revitalizing and remodeling the old Horizon Casino and it is now a Hard Rock Casino & Hotel. The rooms are completely revamped with top end amenities. On the future project list: Create an outdoor experience at the pool, add a 2,000 seat showroom and outdoor concert venue.
Heavenly Valley Epic Discovery
Ski and snowboard fans have long known Heavenly Valley as an epic winter sport experience, and now their “Epic Discovery” project will bring year-round outdoor sports enthusiasts to a whole new group of people.
On their website, they sum it up best: “Somewhere between the earth and sky, where the air is cool and pure, and nature is painted by the hands of angels – there’s a place where squeals of delight echo through the trees. It’s a place where treetops inspire goose bumps. Where thickly forested slopes are explored at high speeds, turn by swooshing turn. Where challenge courses, ziplining, and canopy tours turn nature into a living, breathing textbook. A place where trailheads beckon the entire family to explore.”
Adventure, education and nature will unite at top of the mountain with a retreat most have never experienced before. They are adding a canopy tour that takes people through a ropes and challenge course that includes walking on moving pathways through the tree tops. Epic will also include a Sky Cyle, Interpretive Center and biking trails that will lead users back to lake level. The project is expected to break ground in Summer, 2015.
