Even though the official start of construction doesn’t begin until May 2015 on the new Edgewood Tahoe Resort, the golf course is already undergoing major changes to prepare for the big project. The 8th and 9th holes have been altered for golf this fall, and then they’ll be reconfigured prior to the course opening again next spring. Trees have been cleared and a 10-foot tall fence has been erected in order to block the construction zone. Since there are still weddings, events, and next year’s American Century Celebrity Golf, Edgewood wanted everything to look good and not have visitors seeing the trucks, cranes, and crews working on the new project.
Edgewood Tahoe Lodge
The former 9th hole is the location for the new lodge that is expected to be opened by January 2017. It will have 154 rooms, a 120 seat restaurant, adventure center, 10,000 sq. ft. spa, fitness center, lakefront pool, terrace and a 10,000 sq.ft. conference center. You don’t have to be staying at the hotel to enjoy all of the amenities either…the public can enjoy much of what they have to offer per their agreement with the planning agencies.
There is going to be a private residence club on the grounds which will consist of 40 cabins along the 8th and 9th fairways, fractional ownership and all with golf, mountain and lake views.
A brand new pier has already opened on the beach at Edgewood! People will be able to boat over and spend the night, enjoy a round of golf or a delicious meal.
On what is currently the parking lot south of the current clubhouse will be the Lodge’s swimming pool and grounds. The planners wanted the lodge closer to the lake but they needed to be 300 feet back due to regulations. Since most of the parking on site will be removed there will be a parking garage placed at the current entrance on Lake Parkway. At that time the entrance to Edgewood will be moved north.
The golf course improvements will include the new hole #9 with a lakefront finish (completed in 2015), a new Hole 7 with realignment for new entrance (completed by 2016 golf season) and a new hole # 8 that will be completed in 2016
This is just one of many new projects for the south shore of Lake Tahoe and I’ll be highlighting many of them in the coming weeks. Investors are putting money into the region to improve what is already here and to bring in new and exciting attractions for the Lake Tahoe visitor. All of this just adds value to homes in South Lake Tahoe. Lakefront homes in the Stateline neighborhood of South Lake Tahoe are adjacent to the course and neighborhoods of Lake Village. They are Kahle Park, Elk Point and Lower Kingsbury are as well.
